James Tracy is a Vancouver-based visual artist whose global travels have provided the inspiration for his library of photographic images from local to around the world. He has transformed these images into original, often abstract works of art for private homeowners, interior designers and contractors.
Over the years his visual art has been chosen for use in over 40 display suites in condominiums and residential developments through the Lower Mainland. He has also designed and applied hand-painted finishes in the interiors of several B.C. Million Dollar Lottery Show Homes and two Heros Lottery Show Homes.
Travel is James` passion. Whether boating on the canals in Venice, cycling Haleakala at dawn in Hawaii, climbing to the summit of Mount Fuji, or exploring the great ruins in Egypt, he recharges his inner 'batteries' while photographing scenes and inspirations that he transforms into art pieces back in his Vancouver studio. He reworks his own digital photographic images to create unique abstract compositions that are later transferred via ink jet to canvas.
James Tracy was born in Vancouver in 1964 and grew up in the city. His talent and passion for visual compositing was evident by age 10 when he discovered the joys of photography. A 1978 trip to Italy sparked his ongoing fascination with art, history, and travel, and a deep appreciation for cultures and architectural styles around the world. The advent of digital photography opened up new doors for James and his artistic expression.
James produces only a limited number of signed editions, ensuring that clients receive art that transforms their living/working areas into highly personalized, unique spaces.
